Hazardous Waste has become a major source of escalating environmental degradation in Pakistan, and proper management in a scientific and environmentally friendly manner is urgently needed. Hospital Waste, industrial waste (organic and inorganic), industrial wastewater, pharmaceutical wastewater, refined sludge of diesel and gasoline, and liquid waste of used oil waste pose environmental challenges. Hazardous Waste Management requires special care for treatment, management, and disposal. Incineration is the preferred method for incineration of many of the most hazardous solid wastes and is widely used all over the world.
Many developed countries have alternatives to incineration. These techniques are not used in Pakistan because they are either too complicated or too expensive. The high levels of heat kept inside the furnace or unit in an incinerator so that the waste can be burned quickly and efficiently. Hazardous waste burning process produces ‘flue gases.’ These flue gases will be incinerated in the second chamber of a double chamber incinerator before being sent to the wet scrubber (air pollution control device). The flue gases will be cleaned of pollutants before being dispersed in the atmosphere, making the technology best suited for the proposed project.
